Normally I don’t write reviews to movies because by the time I have seen them they have been out for weeks. However today at work we were invited to attend a screening of The Last Airbender. Don’t worry this review is completely spoiler free. If your kid loves TLA they will love it, if you’re an older fan of the show its so-so. The acting of Aang and Zuko is decent, Katara and Sokka are terrible, but surprisingly Aasif MandviĀ of The Daily Show is very believable as the ruthless Admiral Zhao. The action scenes are well done, and the film on the whole is timed very well. I don’t understand why M. Night gets a “written by” credit when it is so similar to the first season (Book 1: Water). The film has Appa and Momo but only as background elements, the rendering on those two is a little weak compared to the bending effects. There is no reason to have converted this film to 3-D, so save your money and stick to a normal (cheaper) showing.
Overall I would give it a 3 out 5.
